Velojym's Burb
« on: April 06, 2017, 08:49:14 PM »

I don't plan on going nuts with this barge, as it's serving as our family transport on weekends and trips, but I do plan on a few minor upgrades that'll make it a decent mild trail machine.

2004 Z71 Suburban.

At the moment, I'm chasing the Service 4WD message, and on the advice of a mechanic I've trusted for a while, replacing the encoder motor on the TCase. I also need some tires and an alignment. Otherwise, no real changes in the immediate future, though I may level up the front a little.

I've heard of those electric motors going bad but I've also seen the push button panel on the dash for the 4wd go bad also

Yeah, they had a cold-solder issue. I've already replaced mine, and it hasn't changed anything. The encoder motor is in the back seat now, waiting for me to get off my duff and do something with it.
